MATERIAL TESTING & INVESTIGATIONS

Oligomaster's polymer and materials testing lab offers over 15 years of experience in non-metallic materials testing and services for OEM clients, utilities, oil and gas, construction, industrial, and transportation industries. The polymer and materials lab provides physical and chemical characterization and failure analysis of plastics, elastomers, composites, resins, coatings, additives, and fillers according to standard testing procedures (ISO and ASTM) or custom developed/designed methods according to client requirements.

Polymeric/non-metallic materials physical characterization

The design and optimization of polymeric products requires that physical and mechanical characteristics to meet defined criteria according to industry standards or specific client specifications. In Oligomaster's polymer and materials lab offers physical characterization and quality control testing for all stages of development employing a wide range of modern equipment and facilities. During the selection of tests and for reviewing the data, our technical experts can provide clients with insight on failure analysis and provide guidance on material property improvement.

Oligomaster's polymer and materials physical characterization facilities include, but are not limited to:

MechanicalThermalOptical
Tensile propertiesDifferential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)Optical microscopy
Compressive propertiesDynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA/DMTA)Colour analysis
Flexural propertiesThermomechanical Analysis (TMA)Hardness
Shear propertiesThermogravimetric Analysis (TGA)Density

Polymers, resins, additives, and filler chemical characterization

Reverse-engineering and failure analysis of polymeric materials require knowledge of the chemical and compositional structure of the material. In addition to analyzing the physical and mechanical properties of materials, Oligomaster's polymer and materials lab offers accelerated aging facilities, as well as, spectroscopic and chromatographic testing to chemically analyze polymers, resins, additives, and fillers.

Oligomaster's polymer and materials aging and chemical characterization facilities include:

Simulated Weathering   and AgingSpectroscopyChromatography
Solid, liquid and gas accelerated agingUltra-Violet/Visible (UV/VIS)High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
UVA, UVB, temperature, humidity, and   salt-fog exposureFourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR)Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS)
Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES)Gas Chromatography - Flame Ionization Detector (GC-FID)
Gas Chromatography - Electron Capture Detector (GC-ECD)
Test results are provided in comprehensive reports including testing parameters, uncertainty measurements (if required), photographs (before and after the test), and data analysis.

Product Evaluation Offerings

  • Polymer Characterization

We use a wide range of testing methodologies and instrumentation to perform our tests. These include light microscopy, 3D-microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), gas chromatography (GC), high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer (GC-MS), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometers. As well as, thermal analysis including thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), dynamic scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), heat aging, accelerated weathering testing, and more!

  • Coatings Testing

We offer a full range of services, from in-lab testing to research and development. We can assist with failure analysis, process evaluation, chemical analysis and formulation analysis, physical, mechanical and chemical testings, consulting and improving the manufacturing process using artificial intelligence.

  • Biological and Environmental Testing

With a strong affiliation with chemical labs for wastewater treatment we access to analysis related to waste characterization and site remediation. We also have the multidisciplinary expertise to help deal with a wide range of non-routine samples.

We would love to collaborate with you!
